Well it's a new year and that means new pictures. However, with the weather the way it's been, not to mention playoff football, no new pictures have been taken this year. With that, here's a picture I took late last year in Wimberley, TX. It's the inside of
The Old Mill General Store. It has an old general store feel to it so I tried to give it an old photo treatment. I desaturated and upped the clarity a bit in Lightroom and then used one of the Classic Camera presets inside Nik Analog Efex 2. Love that thing!
Wimberley is a cool place with some nice touristy and unique stores. Most of the shops there were OK about me taking photos in them and one of them even encouraged it. I do my best not to be in anyone's way and be as discreet as possible. Stop, shoot and move on, quickly. This place is one of them and there's another I'd like to mention, but not in a good way.
I went into Wall Street Western and in there they had rows of some really cool boots. So, as an aspiring photographer, I tried to take a couple photos of some of the boots. I've seen others get some nice images of boots elsewhere and I always thought if I was in a place that had boots, why not?
Well, right when I started, some employee came storming over telling me they didn't allow photography inside their store. Really? What, so they have some sort of thing about their boots, like maybe someone will steal their designs or something?? That would happen as soon as someone buys a pair and they get out of the store. I wasn't in anyone's way and and even if I was, others spent a lot of time gawking at the boots longer than I would take to snap a photo. So, wouldn't it be great free advertising for them if I took a photo and wrote about it? Anyway, since I was not allowed to take photos, I thought as a photographer and potential customer, "I guess I won't allow myself to give you any advertisement or spend any money in your establishment, either" and I subsequently vacated the premises. Their loss.... Well, I guess they are getting some free advertisement here after-all, but it ain't good! :-)
