...A domestic terrorist blew up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK, killing 168 people and injuring hundreds more. The terrorist was caught, tried and executed. The location of the bombing is now
home to a memorial for the victims of this tragedy. It is quite a moving place and one you should visit if you ever get to the city. On the grounds of the memorial stands this Survivor Tree. It is a 40 ft tall elm tree that made it through the blast across the parking lot from the Murrah building. The quote in the circular wall around the tree states, "The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated. Our deeply rooted faith sustains us."
It was February when I took this shot so there were no leaves on it, but it still blooms and lives on.
