Calf roping was another fun event to watch, but each round ended quickly. The calf runs out of the chute, the roper gives chase and gets one shot to rope the calf. If she ropes it, yay! If she doesn't, too bad so sad and on to the next one. She was successful here as you can see. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I remember seeing on TV a long time ago, once the calf got roped, the rider brought it to a dead stop like a dog on a leash. But in these more sensitive days, the rope now breaks free to allow the calf to keep running after a successful roping.
