Happy 241st Independence Day!

Today marks the 241st anniversary of when the United States of America declared independence from Great Britain.  Remember and enjoy!

To mark the occasion, unfortunately I don't have any pictures of fireworks, eagles, flags or anything similar to post.  I do however, have some photos from the one of the most American of pastimes one can experience and that is baseball!  We went to see the Yankees take on the Astros in Houston on July 1st.  In honor of the holiday, Major League Baseball changed up the uniforms of all 32 teams to include the colors of the flag (red, white and blue) as well as the stars and stripes.  You can see the variations on the hats and the numbers and logos of the jerseys as well as the socks, at least the socks of the players who decided to wear them.  I think they look pretty cool!  Anyway, below are the pictures!  Have a great holiday, don't eat too much apple pie and don't get heat stroke while waiting for the fireworks shows!

Oh and I should mention that the Astros won the game in dramatic fashion, 7-6 in the bottom of the 8th.  The Yankees led the whole game and then Aroldis Chapman came in to get one out in the bottom of the 8th inning and he gave up the go-ahead run.  We also got to see a grand slam home run in person for the first time!  It was hit by Didi Gregorius of the Yankees!  Pretty exciting!

On a totally different note, Eileen just reminded me that 25 years ago today, when we were barely dating, I got a ticket on my jet ski at Decker Lake near Austin, TX for going too fast in a no-wake zone.  My excuse was that there was too much hydrilla in the water and if you go too slow over it, it gets caught in the jet ski's impeller intake and clogs up the impeller causing it to stall.  The park ranger didn't buy it.

I hope you enjoy the photo and thanks for dropping by.  As always, click here to see the high-res version of the below images.
